2014 AAANZ Book and PhD Prizes

AAANZ calls for entries into the 2014 AAANZ Prizes. The deadline for entries is Friday 29 August 2014.

Book and catalogue prizes

The AAANZ Book Prize has grown from a single prize to a field of eight awards:

Best book ($500 sponsored by the University of Sydney)
Best anthology ($500 sponsored by the University of Sydney)
Best large exhibition catalogue ($500 sponsored by the University of Melbourne)
Best small exhibition catalogue ($100 sponsored by the University of Western  Australia)
Best scholarly article in the ANZ Journal of Art ($500 sponsored by the University of  Sydney)
Best essay/catalogue/book by either an Indigenous Australian or New Zealand    Maori (NZD$500 supported by Christchurch Art Gallery)
Best artist-led essay/catalogue/book (NZD$500 sponsored by Massey University)
University Art Museums catalogue ($1000 sponsored by the University Art Museums Association)

Books, catalogues and articles must have been published by individual members and/or staff members of institutional members within the year 2013.

PhD Prize

The second annual competition for recent PhD Graduates calls for entries. The prize will be judged during the 2014 AAANZ conference GEOcritical in Launceston, Tasmania, 5-7 December. Entrants must have been awarded their PhD in 2013.

Candidates should submit their thesis abstract and, if appropriate, excerpts from their markers’ reports (2–3 page maximum). In addition, they will present their work to a judging panel in December, following the guidelines for the 3-minute thesis competition (details below).

The outstanding presentation will receive $1000 sponsored by Taylor and Francis, the new publisher of the ANZ Journal of Art.
