Applications open until Tuesday 7 August About Ursula Hoff Dr Ursula Hoff AO OBE LLD PhD (Hamburg) D Lit (Monash), was born in 1909 in London and died in 2005 in Melbourne. Dr Hoff’s distinguished career encompassed art history, curatorship and museum management at the University of Melbourne and the National Gallery of Victoria. Educated in Hamburg, she was among the pivotal first generation of European-trained art historians who introduced the subject to Australian universities. Dr Hoff was a lecturer in the then-Department of Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne and worked at the National Gallery of Victoria, becoming its assistant director from 1968-1973. She became the London Advisor to the Felton Bequest from 1975-1983. State Library Victoria Annual Fellowships Program

Applications are now open for State Library Victoria’s prestigious annual fellowships program, with a new specialist fellowship for Victorian Aboriginal researchers offered from 2018. The Indigenous Victorian Aboriginal Cultural Research Fellowship supports Aboriginal researchers to explore the Library’s collections and engage with archival records to produce research material that can be used by the community. Fellows receive a grant of $15,000 for three months’ research, a shared office space, and special access to collections and library experts. This year’s fellowship program delivers a total of 15 fellowships, collectively worth up to $215,000, offering research opportunities across diverse areas including children’s literature, social history, visual arts, theatre, Ukrainian studies and Indigenous Victorian Aboriginal Culture. Fellowship | Goethe-Institut Postdoctoral Fellowship at Haus der Kunst

Deadline – January 14th, 2018 Inaugurated in 2013, the post-doctoral fellowship program is awarded to a promising and exceptional scholar for one academic year. The sixth fellowship is to start in August 2018. Funded by the Goethe-Institut, the Goethe-Institut Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Haus der Kunst is designed for international emerging scholars whose research focuses on global perspectives on modern and contemporary art in the second half of the 20th century and the 21st century. The fellowship shall concentrate on the research for a comprehensive exhibition project on the global art historical developments of the Post-colonial era covering the period 1955 – 1980. The project is the second of a trilogy whose first on Postwar: Art Between the Pacific and the Atlantic was on display from October 14th, 2016 to March 26th, 2017. ARP-Fellowships Application Deadline: November 30, 2020 Hans Arp (1886-1966) and Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) are among the most remarkable artists of the twentieth century. They galvanized the movements of Dada and Surrealism, and influenced the development of concrete art and organic abstraction. Since 1977 the Stiftung Arp e.V. has overseen the greater part of both artists’ estates. It holds one of the most comprehensive collections of their work and manages most of their written and photographic archives. The Foundation also has an extensive research library, which holds primary literature and catalogues of the work of Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Hans Arp as well as many publications of their broader artistic and cultural context. Funding | Power Publications Dissertation Prize for Indigenous Art Research

Power Publications is pleased to announce that it will award a dissertation prize for the best PhD, DPhil or Master by Research written on Indigenous art. Supported by the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, this prize supports new research and writing on Indigenous art within a scholarly context. The prize is not restricted to authors of Indigenous heritage. Academic supervisors will be invited to nominate candidates and a jury led by Professor Ian McLean, of the University of Melbourne, will select an awardee.
