Articles from 5,000 to 7,000 words in length including endnotes should be submitted to Editorial Assistant at journal@aaanz.info Deadline: 31st October 2014 Editors: Dr Donna West Brett and Dr Jacqueline Millner See the Journal submission guidelines (pdf link) for details. Submissions not conforming to the guidelines will not be considered. The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art is published by the Art Association of Australia and New Zealand. The Journal is Australasia’s principal refereed art history journal. The Journal is dedicated to the study of art history and its various emanations including art practice, theory and exhibition. The editors seek research papers that engage with critical debates and frameworks across art historical and theoretical enquiry within local and global contexts, plus review essays evaluating publications and exhibitions.

Art Association of Australia and New Zealand Annual Conference 5-8 December 2014 Launceston and Hobart, Tasmania The Annual Conference of the Art Association of Australia and New Zealand will be held in Launceston, Tasmania, 5-7 December 2014, with an optional day in Hobart, 8 December 2014. The conference will be based at the Inveresk Precinct, hosted by the University of Tasmania (Tasmanian College of the Arts and the School of Architecture and Design) and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. Sessions have been set for one and a half hours, with the expectation (although not the rule) being for three twenty-minute papers, each followed by ten minutes of questions, discussion, explication or commentary from a designated discussant. The editors of EMAJ (e-melbourne art journal) are now calling for articles to be submitted for EMAJ 8 to be published in November 2014. EMAJ welcomes monographic articles about specific artists or art collectives as well as thematic or theoretical analyses of art history from any historical period. Established and emerging researchers working within the fields of art history, architectural history, curatorship, politics and aesthetics, visual culture, philosophy, historiography and museum studies are encouraged to submit.
