Volunteer Opportunity | NGV recruiting Volunteer Guides

The NGV is recruiting Voluntary Guides to commence training in 2015. The Voluntary Guides of the National Gallery of Victoria was established in 1967 with the approval of the NGV Council of Trustees. It operates with the expressed aim of providing support to the NGV by assisting the community in understanding and appreciating the NGV and its collections. Since 1968, the NGV Voluntary Guides have been providing daily tours and talks for visitors, providing a link between the NGV and the public, and playing an important role in encouraging and deepening the interest of visitors in NGV collections and exhibitions. The guides are a dedicated team with a comprehensive knowledge of the NGV Collection and a passion for the visual arts. In the coming months a new group of guides will be recruited for a training program commencing in February 2015…

Volunteers needed for 2013 AAANZ conference

The AAANZ conference committee is calling for volunteers to help with running the 2013 AAANZ conference INTER-DISCIPLINE to be held at the VCA on December 7-9, 2013. You can see more detail about the conference here. Volunteers are a vital part of the conference and in return are offered free registration, including the keynote lectures and the conference party on Sunday 8th December. Students in the fields of Architecture, Design Art, Art History and Theory, Curatorship and/or Museum Studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Volunteering offers you an opportunity to hear about the latest research in your area as well as to meet a range of researchers, artists and academics. The continued focus on the apparent need for more and more contemporary art at the NGV strikes me as misplaced. A collection will always have its gaps (I’m sure many of us could think of a certain period we would love to see a few more examples of). Volunteer at Heide Museum of Modern Art Heide Museum of Modern Art is seeking motivated and passionate people to join its team of Visitor Services and Education volunteers. Heide volunteers enjoy a number of benefits including FREE entry to all exhibitions and discounts at the Heide Store. There is also a Volunteer Book Club and Lecture Series that encourage the sharing and exchanging of ideas. Volunteers are asked for a commitment of one half day shift per fortnight and they are welcomed into the Heide family.
