History of the Gallery School

As part of the National Gallery of Victoria’s 150th celebrations, the VCA is hosting a symposium about the history of the Gallery School, started in 1867 under the leadership of Eugene von Guérard. The Gallery School is the founding institution of the VCA, formed in 1972 under Lenton Parr.

This day of talks will investigate the history of the great art school, and will include stories and debates about the many leading and significant figures in a distinguished history. For a full program click here (pdf).
