Community Heritage Grants – Due Date 4th May 2012

The Community Heritage Grants (CHG) program provides grants of up to $15,000 to community organisations such as libraries, archives, museums, genealogical and historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups. The grants are provided to assist with the preservation of locally owned, but nationally significant collections of materials that are publicly accessible including artifacts, letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and audio visual material.

Harold White Fellowships – Due Date April 30th 2012

The National Library of Australia offers annual fellowships to established researchers and writers. Established by the Council of the National Library of Australia in 1983 as the National Library Fellowships, the first Fellows commenced their research at the Library in 1984. The fellowships were renamed in honour of Sir Harold White CBE (1905-1992), the first National Librarian, in 1985.

The fellowships scheme aims to promote the Library as a centre of scholarly activity and research, encourage scholarly and literary use of the Library’s collections and production of publications arising from that scholarship, and to promote the Library’s rich and varied collections.  Four to seven fellowships, of periods from three to six months, are awarded annually.

Japan FellowshipDue Date April 30th 2012

The National Library of Australia offers an annual fellowship to researchers in Japanese studies.

The Japan Fellowship aims to promote the National Library’s collections as a national resource for the study of Asia. The Fellowship is intended to encourage research based on the Japanese collections and the production of publications based on them.

Japan Study Grant – Due Date April 30th 2012

Japan Study Grants are open to postgraduates, honours students, academic staff or independent researchers in Australia who wish to use the Japan-related collections of the National Library for their research.

The grants are offered for periods of up to four weeks and support travel to Canberra and livings costs. Grants are not available to those living in the Australian Capital Territory or Queanbeyan.
