Funding | PhD Scholarship in the field of contemporary curatorial practice | UNSW and MCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and UNSW Art & Design are partnering to offer a PhD Scholarship in the field of contemporary curatorial practice. Based in Sydney, this is a unique opportunity for an outstanding candidate to contribute to the vibrant and growing field of curatorial scholarship. The candidate will have extensive access to MCA staff, audiences, collections, archives and other resources to conduct their research. The $20,000 scholarship will be awarded in addition to an Australian Post Graduate Award (APA) scholarship, and consists of $15,000 stipend (tax exempt) over three years and $5,000 towards research expenses. Partners: UNSW Art and Design has a strong commitment to creative practice based research, and a particular interest in how knowledge is produced through curatorial practice. PhD Scholarships, School of Architecture, University of Queensland – Deadline: August 21, 2016 The School of Architecture at the University of Queensland invites applications for two research projects: 1)  How Meston’s ‘Wild Australia Show’ Shaped Australian Aboriginal History  The Wild Australia Show (1892-93), staged by a diverse company of Aboriginal people for metropolitan audiences, provides the focus for an interdisciplinary study of performance, photography, collections, frontier environments and race relations in colonial Australia. Using archival and visual records, and in partnership with key cultural institutions and Indigenous communities, the research seeks to produce an authoritative and original interpretation of the Show situating it within local, national and transnational narratives informed by contemporary Indigenous perspectives. un Projects is currently seeking expressions of interest for an Editor of un Magazine issues 11.1 and 11.2, to be published in 2017. The Editor position is a unique and exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the development and production of one of Australia’s most respected contemporary arts publications. Artist Residency | Monash University Prato Centre

The Monash University Prato Centre is once again offering its Italian residency for 3 months from September 2017. Open to Australian practitioners, the residency includes airfare, artist fee, studio and accommodation at the Monash University Prato Centre in Tuscany. Applications are welcomed from emerging and mid-career Australian artists, for a new project or inquiry that relates to the Prato context. AAMC Foundation Engagement Program for International Curators

Deadline: Oct 15, 2016 Applications are now open for the inaugural term of the AAMC Foundation Engagement Program for International Curators, made possible with major support from the Terra Foundation for American Art. The two-year Program will accept three non-US based curators and three US Liaisons working on or having worked within exhibitions and projects that explore historic American Art (c. 1500-1980), including painting; sculpture; works on paper, including prints, drawing and photography; decorative arts; and excluding architecture; design; and performance. The ARC Centre for the History of Emotions (CHE) invites applications from Australian-based researchers, without tenured or continuing academic employment, to undertake three- or six-month Short-Term Project-to-Publication Research Fellowships in the history of emotions. Successful applicants will undertake to research, write and submit for publication before 30 September 2017 significant new material on the history of emotions. The fellowships may be used for existing projects which are in advanced stages, or for new projects. Funding is available to support a stipend and eligible expenses including, but not limited to, travel for research purposes; accommodation in research locations; and other expenses incurred in obtaining research materials and publication preparation.
