Newberry Library fellowships support research in residence at the Library, and all proposed research must be appropriate to the collections. Our fellowship program rests on the belief that all projects funded by the Newberry benefit from engagement both with the materials in the Newberry’s collections and with the lively community of researchers that gathers around those collections. The Clark offers between fifteen and twenty Clark Fellowships each year, ranging in duration from six weeks to ten months. National and international scholars, critics, and museum professionals are welcome to propose projects that extend and enhance the understanding of the visual arts and their role in culture. Expressions of Interest are called for, for a three year full-time Ph.D scholarship at The University of Melbourne in connection with an ARC Linkage Grant administered by the University of Melbourne and to be conducted in partnership with the State Library of Victoria. The grant: Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in Australia: researching and relating Australia’s manuscript holdings to new technologies and new readers will begin in March, 2010.
