The NGV presents a major solo exhibition of one of the most influential living artists, David Hockney. The exhibition (opens this Friday) features more than 700 works from the past decade of the artist’s career. Learn more about David Hockney’s life and work as renowned art critic John McDonald shares his thoughts on one of Britain’s greatest living painters before speaking in conversation with exhibition curator Simon Maidment.

John McDonald is an art critic for the Sydney Morning Herald and film critic for the Australian Financial Review. He has written for many Australian and international publications, worked as an editor and publisher, lectured at colleges and galleries around the country and is former Head of Australian Art at the National Gallery of Australia.

Simon Maidment is the Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the NGV.
