Mayor Paul Klisaris said the appointment of Ms Blauhorn followed an intensive search among high calibre applicants. “I’m delighted to welcome Ms Blauhorn to the Monash team and I believe her enthusiasm and drive will take our much-admired gallery to new heights,” Cr Klisaris said. “In this, the 25th year of the Monash Gallery of Art, I’m excited about the vision Ms Blauhorn has for cementing the gallery’s place as one of Australia’s most significant public places.” Ms Blauhorn has a strong background in business, marketing and fundraising development through her previous role as Senior Development Manager with the JDRF Australia (previously the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). She has also worked as a Communication Advisor with the Positive Women Network and as Fundraising and Relationship Coordinator with Very Special Kids. She has a strong interest in Australian art and is on the Executive Committee of the National Gallery of Victoria Women’s Association and is involved with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Art Awards. “I am delighted to be taking on the position of Gallery Director at the Monash Gallery of Art and I look forward to playing a leadership role in upholding our vision of being the home of Australian photography,” Ms Blauhorn said. “I am pleased to have the opportunity to work alongside such passionate people including the Gallery team, its supporters and the community of Monash. “It is an exciting time to be involved in the arts in Australia and I am keen to continue the journey in making the gallery one of the country’s leading public institutions.”
