Marina Ferretti Bocquillon

A specialist in the history of Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism, Marina Ferretti Bocquillon is in charge of Curatorial Direction at the Musée des Impressionnismes (Museum of Impressionisms) in Giverny and also manager of the Signac Archives. She has published numerous essays and books, including Signac aquarelliste [Signac: Watercolours] (Adam Biro, 2001), L’Impressionnisme (Que sais-je, 2004), and Seurat et le dessin néo-impressionniste (Cinq Continents, Musée d’Orsay, 2005).

She has curated numerous exhibitions in France and abroad, notably Paul Signac 1863-1935 (Grand Palais, Vincent van Gogh Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2001), Le néo-impressionnisme, de Seurat à Paul Klee (Musée d’Orsay, 2005), Bonnard photographe / Bonnard photographié (Le Cannet, Espace Bonnard, 2007), and Seurat, Signac and Neo-Impressionism (Palazzo Reale de Milan, 2008). At the Musée des Impressionnismes in Giverny, she has recently curated the following exhibitions: Monet’s Garden in Giverny: Inventing the Landscape in 2009, L’Impressionnisme au fil de la Seine and Maximilien Luce: Neo-Impressionist. Retrospective in 2010, Bonnard en Normandie in 2011, and From Delacroix to Signac. Drawings from the Dyke Collection in 2012.

Anthea Callen is Professor of Art (Practice-led Research) in the School of Art, College of Arts and Social Sciences, Australian National University, Canberra. She is also Professor Emeritus of Visual Culture at the University of Nottingham, and Honorary Research Associate at the Institute of Health, University of Warwick. Anthea is widely published and the author of The Art of Impressionism: Painting Technique and the Making of Modernity. She is an internationally renowned specialist on the history of artists’ materials and techniques; she regularly collaborates with museum conservators and curators in study of the historical materials and methods of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters.
