Forum: The Archive and the Limits of Representation

The exhibition at Monash University Museum of Art Liquid Archive traces connections between traditional notions of the archive, emerging technologies, and the ways in which memory and personal experience are incorporated into larger histories. The panel will discuss a number of works in the exhibition that engage directly with the limits of representation and the difficulty of responding to sites of trauma and loss.

Liquid Archive traces the ways in which contemporary artists are making connections between traditional notions of the archive and emerging technologies; incorporating memory and personal experience into larger histories. Artists Kit Wise and Zoe Croggon will discuss the way in which their respective practices engage with the archive.
