AGL Shaw Summer Research Fellowships

State Library of Victoria

Named for eminent historian AGL Shaw AO, these annual Summer Research Fellowships help honours or postgraduate university students pursue research projects.

Recipients are given access to our collection to undertake in-depth research in their chosen field for four weeks during January or February. We also provide $1200 and space in a private study in the Library, which can be accessed out of hours.

Three fellowships are awarded each year. Two fellows from Melbourne are chosen as well as one from regional Victoria. The fellow from outside of Melbourne is also awarded a living-away-from-home allowance.

To be eligible you must:

  • be enrolled at a Victorian university
  • have satisfied the requirement for an undergraduate degree
  • be undertaking, or about to undertake, an honours degree or first postgraduate degree or diploma
