Australia’s engagement with contemporary Asian art has exploded over the past 25 years. Queensland Art Gallery’s Asia Pacific Triennal has been fundamental to this engagement and positioned Australia as a leading exhibiting platform for cutting edge contemporary Asian art. Doug Hall will discuss Australia’s engagement with contemporary Asian art and the road taken to get to where we are now.
Doug Hall is Australian Commissioner for the Venice Biennale, 2011; he was director of the Queensland Art Gallery (1987-2007) and was the initiator of the Asia Pacific Triennials which began in 1993; he conceived the idea and oversaw the development and opening of the Gallery of Modern Art; he now lives in Melbourne.
